Gathered in an extraordinary General Assembly on Saturday, January 3, CNT-AIT France activists, having learned of the US military coup against Venezuelan President Maduro, who was kidnapped along with his wife, are following the situation with concern.
This new military adventure brings us a little closer every day to a new global world war and demonstrates—if proof were needed—the true nature of the State. Even hidden under the mask of “democracy,” the State is the instrument of Power to exercise the law of the strongest: yesterday, the law of the strongest was exercised by Maduro (the “democratically elected” president) and his military-business clique against the people of Venezuela; today the law of the strongest is exercised by Trump (the “elected democratically” president) and his military-business clique against Maduro and his regime. In all cases, it is the population, and in particular the workers and the exploited, who pay the price.
The oppressed working class has nothing to do with this gangster war!
The CNT-AIT calls on the population, and above all on workers, to refuse to be drawn into military adventures, whether in the name of the Fatherland, the Nation, democracy, or anti-imperialism. We call on everyone to stand up everywhere and at all times against the army and militarism, by all means available, whether individually or collectively.
The CNT-AIT calls on the sections, friends, and initiatives of the IWA to URGENTLY convene the IWA’s permanent anti-militarist working group, whose creation was decided at the recent IWA congress on the initiative of the CNT-AIT France.
Peace in the cottages, war in the palaces!
CNT-AIT (French section of the International Workers’ Association)
